Basic rules to use your debit card

  • Sign your debit card as soon as you receive it, and memorize your PIN.
  • Don’t leave receipts in plain sight, especially if they contain your debit card information.
  • Write down the card number as well as the customer service telephone number, and keep it in a safe place, where you can find it in case you need to report the card as lost or stolen.
  • The magnetic stripe on your debit card contains important information about your account. Any object that can demagnetize it will erase that information, disabling it.
  • Keep your card in a way that is not in contact with other cards’ magnetic stripes, or wallet magnetic closures.
  • Never place it on top of a radio or television.
  • Protect your debit card from excessive heat.
  • Contact your bank if you notice an undue charge on your statement. You should report your lost or stolen debit card to your bank, and to the authorities.

Funds are automatically deducted from your bank account to cover your charges. You are allowed to spend whatever amount you have available on your account.
