
1. Treat your credit and debit card as the keys to your home: don’t loose sight of them.
2. Never write your PIN on your card.
3. Never throw away credit card receipts in public trash cans.
4. Select a PIN not so obvious to other people, and never write it or save it close to your card.
5. Cancel all inactive credit accounts.
6. Never provide your card numbers to unknown people on the phone.
7. Before entering your account number on a business website, look for the security icons to guarantee your transaction is safe.
8. Be aware that banks and legit businesses never ask for your PIN, account numbers or updated information through email. Never click on a suspicious email attachment.
9. Keep all information about your cards – including account numbers, payment due date and telephone of all credit card companies – in a safe place in your home, so you can act fast in case your cards are lost or stolen.
10. Destroy any document that might have your account numbers or any other personal information before discarding them.
