Avoid signing blank receipts. When signing, trace a line through blank spaces.

Keep your credit card receipts on a safe place so you can compare them with your statement.

Take with you only the cards you use the most, leave the rest at home. If there are some of your cards that you don’t use at all, cut them in pieces and throw them away.

Notify your credit card company of a change of address in advance to avoid that new cards are sent to your old address.

If you loose your card or realize it was stolen, call the issuer immediately.  Most companies have a toll free number. According to the applicable rules, you are not responsible for any unauthorized purchase after notifying the company about the theft, so write down the date and time of the call. It is convenient that you review your contract because some cards offer higher protection.

If you suspect someone used your credit card number without your permission, notify the card issuer immediately.
